BEIJING -- An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted Sunda Strait, Indonesia, at 05:59:39 GMT (12: 59 local time) on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 172.50 km, was initially determined to be at 5.6753 degrees south latitude and 105.4737 degrees east longitude.
